3:43 pm - The Johnny Depp Factor

demethos
From The Escapist:

"However, I am going to be the bold and say, with pirates at their peak, it's time for them to step down. They're done. We've been saturated. Anything more and we'll become sick of them, like when a good song is overplayed on the radio. Pirates need to go out in a blaze of glory. This will likely happen during the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie: One more look at staggering Johnny Depp with lots of eyeliner, and then, boom - stick a cutlass in them; they're done."

Mur Lafferty posits that Pirates, as a cultural tour de force, are done.

Pirates,

We need to have a December meeting. We can have this anywhere although i would be delighted to have it at the new apartment. That way everyone can see it. We need to discuss the Christmas and New Years parties andany possible workshops we would like to work on. ALso Althyng is coming up in January. It is usually held on the 2nd or 3rd Saturday in January.

Normally we are supposed to have the meeting on the 1st Monday. That is this coming Monday. Iwould suggest maybe do it the following week on either Sunday or Monday. The dates would be the 9th (Sun) or the 10th (Mon). I would expect normal start time of either 7 or 7:30. Let me know what everyone wants to do.

4:32 pm - Lost Cause?

demethos
I asked this question over the weekend, and was curious for your opinions. If the Lost Cause was a real pirate ship, what kind do you think it would be? I think it would be a sloop, like the one pictured below:
